AMD 64 and Slow USB Response

Featured Replies

Just got the AMD64 3000 with an ASUS K8V board, and it appears to be a pretty slick! One thing I have noticed though is my usb joystick, rudder and throttle appear to lag when inputs are given. I have checked the bios, and set it to the highest rate available.Any comments would be appreciated!!RegardsBob C.

I remember a patch by Microsoft concerning USB. Have you installed this? It should be available on Windows Update. I'm not sure if it is bundled in SP1 for XP...

I've got the AMD64 3200+ on the same board as you and I don't have that problem. It's probably a driver issue. Try going to www.viaarena.com and get the latest via chipset drivers.Good luck,Mark

Well Mark, I failed to be totaly clear. My initial install using the new motherboard and processor was using Win98SE. Everything seems to run very well, and FAST!! But it does appear the USB seems to be lagging.I have an alternate hard drive on the same system where I have installed WinXP, and under XP there is no USB lag. Hmmmmmmm ...I have downloaded/installed the latest Via software, but I am wondering if there may be issues when using it under 98SE. Probably try an earlier version. It would be nice to get it working right in 98SE since that is were I have all of my FS items set up. It will take a while to get the XP environment up to snuff. Thanks for the comments!!Bob C.

Your system might be to knew to run XP properly? I have heard of this before, that high end systems dont run well under because 98 does not recognize them? Just a thought.
