May 27, 200422 yr I've read often that Win98SE does not recognize anything greater than 512Meg Ram. Is there a workaround to this to be able to have it see more?ThanksJim
May 27, 200422 yr Yes, a reg edit, but I am not sure, search google, should come up with lots of info.
May 27, 200422 yr You need to limit Vcache to less than 512MB. This is done in a .cfg file that I forget the name of but you should be able to find it. I've done it on a lot of computers and it always worked, but I don't have Win98 available right now. I think the settings are Maxfiles= and Minfiles=. Set Maxfiles to < 512 and Minfiles to less than that Different settings for Minfiles= can be better for different files.David
May 27, 200422 yr JimI just got onto a Win98 system. The directory you want is C:WINDOWSSYSTEM.INI. Under {vcache} is minfilescache= and maxfilescache=. I set the former to 9133 and the latter to 196358. This was for a specific program so the numbers aren't important for you. Just set maxfilescache to less than 512000. Hope this helps.David
