S-s-s-s-s-tutter, pause 10 seconds, texture refresh, back to normal

Featured Replies

All was running fine on my rig. No driver updates recently - say, for six months. All of a sudden, about every three to five minutes I am getting sound stuttering where it sticks on a word or noise and repeats it for a few seconds, then my computer freezes for about ten seconds. Then starts again happily. Within FS, an additional effect is redrawing of textures when the computer unfreezes. This is happening both inside and outside FS when FS is running i.e. while I am writing this, with FS running in the background, it is occuring. Not, however, when FS is closed. The usual advice of update this, update that, won't help. All has been well for some months, and this has suddenly started. Has anyone downloaded anything of late that has caused similar problems?I'd be grateful for any useful wisdom, thanks.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

"I'd be grateful for any useful wisdom"Not sure I can do much for you there, Mark, but I'll give it a go anyway. My first concern would be some sort of virus that is taking cycles. Seems like your system was running well until recently, so it may be something your were infected with upon visiting a web site.Aside from the usual Adaware and Spybot recommendations, I'll say you need some others to be thorough. I also use Spy Sweeper available at http://www.webroot.com . Spy Sweeper gets stuff that Adaware and Spybot miss. Also, download CWShredder from Soeperman Enterprises (sorry, don't have a link handy). This will find and kill the Cool Web Search junk that gets installed without our knowledge. As a last resort do a Google search for HijackThis. It will find and kill anything! But be careful what you delete using HijackThis... a lot of registry damage can be done by anyone using this neat little tool without caution and patience.Hope this helps,Greg

Thanks Greg. I ran my AdAware and Spybot, which I hadn't run for a few weeks; they didn't find much, I'm careful, but whatever it was I did delete seems to have solved the problem! Your cyclical virus, perhaps! So thank you very much for responding, that helped!Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Hello, I have the same problem too. FS stutters and then the textures refresh. I also downloaded Adaware and Spybot but I still have the problem. The problem first occured when I followed the tuning guide from OneTinSoldier (great guide by the way) I only changed settings in FS and installed a new driver. I think the problem has nothing to to with spyware or something like that.I installed the Catalyst 4.6 for my R9800 Pro. Should I install the 4.7 beta? Any other suggestions what to do?@ Dark MomentDid you do anything else except running Adawrae and Spybot and do you also have a Radeon 9800 Pro?This refreshing is really anoying...
