June 19, 200421 yr I have Omega drivers already installed. I understand that something that Omega offers above the stock drivers is a good uninstall routine. Can anyone help with the preferred method of replacing (un-installing the re-installing) older Omega drivers with newer ones? Win XP, 9800 ATI card.Thanks,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
June 20, 200421 yr Hi Bruce,You should be able to directly install the Omega's over their previous version. But if you wish to be thorough, here's the routine that will get it done for you:1) Go here to get DriverCleaner http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/2) Uninstall the old drivers using Window's Add/Remove function. Don't let the computer reboot (if it asks you to).3) Go into whatever directory the old drivers installed into (usually C:Program FilesRadeon Omega Drivers vX.X.XX) and manually delete that folder.4) Reboot into Safe Mode5) Follow DriverCleaner's instructions to the letter.6) Install your new drivers7) I always like to re-install DirectX after a new driver install (just to be thorough).Hope this helps,Greg
