June 27, 200421 yr I have a hard drive that is split into two partitions (C and D), each roughly 110 GB in size. When I booted the system today D was gone! I couldn't find any trace of it whatsoever (and I have FS on the D partition so that would have meant a lot of work being lost!). After rebooting everything looked normal and I can now access the D partition again, but now I'm worried... what if it happens again? The system I'm using, while fast and nice to use with e.g. Lock On and FS2004, has caused me lots of headaches. It won't boot unless I have a recovery CD in the drive, but when it's up and running it generally works well, except that it's more unstable than my previous system, especially when running FS. I think that might be a video card RAM type/setting issue though. It's a P4 3.2 GHz with 1 GB RAM and a GeForce FX 5950 Ultra, but I haven't been able to find very detailed info about it, since it's a "package" system and I wasn't involved in getting it.While this isn't actually an FS related problem, it is the hardware I use for FS, and since there are many people that are very knowledgeable about computers here I thought it would be a good place to ask anyway.Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
June 28, 200421 yr Sounds pretty strange to me. Did you try to exchange the IDE cables. It may well be that one of them has a loose contact.Alex
June 29, 200421 yr I had a weird problem a couple of weeks ago. I started to get flight simulator failures. Thought it was due to some scenery software I had been working. I moved my computer out from under the desk for unrelated matters, then lost my video. It seems my monitor plug was not screwed in and had intermittent connections. I don't remember unscrewing it, but the problems went away after securely tightening the monitor connector to the computer.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
June 29, 200421 yr I haven't tried anything. Since it's the same hard drive, only different partitions, I don't see how loose cables can have anything to do with it, but I might very well be wrong. And the D drive has been there to greet me every day now, so I'm happy if I don't have to touch anything! (The system is one of those where the warranty doesn't let me poke around inside the computer, so I don't think I'm gonna do it unless I know what I'm poking with. :-))Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
June 30, 200421 yr When it comes to computer systems this is one of those deals where it's called...An Act Of God![/font size];)Regards,Jim
June 30, 200421 yr LOL!I just hope that next time He creates an extra partition for me instead! ;-) (Or why not a full motion sim? That would be nice.)Martin767 fetishistIt's a lot like life and that's what's appealing
