Yoke Question (for FS9)

Featured Replies

I have a CH Products PC yoke, it's about 4 years old. I'm not entirely happy with it's pitch axis, seems to have a non-linear effect. Anyway, my wife thinks I need another one and has asked me what I would like. I see the USB version of the same yoke has more features (prop RPM, mixture). Has anyone had experience with the USB version and can compare to the PC version- does the USB bus offer better features for a controller, or has CH done anything great with the yoke control elements in the past several years? And is anyone using another yoke that I should also be looking at?Thanks,Bruce.

BruceI recently changed to the USB version and it is a lot better! The software allows you to configure all of the controls and levers to do whatever you want them to do - it's very flexible. The biggest difference though is that the action of the yoke has been completely re-engineered and is much much better. with the PC variant, the yoke "centered" in both axes; but you get a clunk whenever you leave or return to the central position. The new version has a very smooth action. Pitch axis is no longer "sticky" and there is no defined central position. Sure - it is cleverly sprung to return to a central position in both pitch and roll but all you get is a smooth transition. Thus the feel is extremely realistic - as if it is merely the airflow pressure acting on the yoke. Trust me - it's a whole lot better. I was, and am, very pleased with this purchase and, like you, I wondered whether it was worth paying the extra. It is.Cheers
