graphic flicker

Featured Replies

sir/madam: i recently invested in a new video card - sapphire ati radeon 9600 atlantis. my packaged card was a nvidia geforce mx 420. my graphic update was to eliminate the scenery flicker i assumed as a card fault. unfortunately the new card has not improved the grraphics with flt sim 2400, in fact it seems worse. my os is xp, dell dim 4500. monitor settings 800x600 and 75% refresh rate. have i misjudged the radeon hype or are there settings that might alter the presentation? thanks

you should see quite an increase in graphics quality from the card update you have done, that said the scenery flicker you mention is probably caused by to high mipamp setting, most people find 4 is the best setting.

Did you make sure that all the nVidia drivers were thoroughly removed from your system? This is the #1 reason folks have problems when changing from one brand of video card to another. You can use this tool to clean your system: http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/ Be sure to follow the instructions for use very carefully and it will do a good job for you.You should remove the ATI drivers as well( clean your system of all drivers and start anew). Then install the latest version. As Bruce said, you should see much better image quality with your new card. Just need to be certain that all is right with the system first.Hope this helps,Greg
