FS2004 works in Safe Mode, otherwise crashes after disp...

After updating from Hercules 8500LE to Sapphire 9600XT, the game crashes if it's run normally. The game works fine in safe mode, but it's quite slow. According to the game's manual, " - - Safe Mode places Flight Simulator 2004 in a Software Video Rendering mode that is independent of the video hardware and its drivers." Here's something I have tried:- closed all other programs and unnecessary services with process explorer and ctrl+alt+del.- tried MS general gaming troubleshooting articles, i.e disable unnecessary .vxds, system.ini, win.ini etc with no luck.- updated directX to 9.0c- updated VIA's drivers to 4.51- updated to latest drivers for Sapphire.- tried adjusting sound acceleration, because the crash effect is classical, the sound gets stuck if using Creative live 5.1.- if using onboard's sound chipset, that does not happen. - installed and uninstalled again and again. - deleted fs9.cfg and tried resetting to defaults.- searched google, contected both Microsoft and ATI support.- all other games work fine. The game worked quite stabily with the 8500LE, but now I'm running out of ideas.

Rename your fs9.cfg to fs9.OLD. Restart FS2004, let it stabilize and see if the problem is corrected. If so, reset all your parameters for you display, sound, joysticks, etc. If not, delete the new fs9.cfg and renam fs9.OLD to fs9.cfg.Did you uninstall the drivers from the first graphics card prior to installing the second graphics card?W. Hi,I tried that and also uninstalled the game, without any luck. The previous drivers I uninstalled and set the display to VGA. After that I installed the new drivers, but because it kept crashing I used ATI's CATuninstaller and tried again. Now it seems to be a bit stabler, after disabling some BIOS' settings, such as shadow memory addresses and system bios cacheable.Spude
