October 4, 200421 yr This link was on Tom'Hardware site this morning. Not often that FS2004 gets used to rate video card performance.http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.com/gra..._charts-09.htmlTerry
October 4, 200421 yr No not often though there seem to be a trend. First Hardocp started to using it then firingsquad some and tomshardware :) I really liked that chart makes my 6800 ULTRA look good :DIt
October 4, 200421 yr Wow! Big difference, from the card I have now and the newer ones. Just wish my computer was as good as his test rig. I am starting to get upgrade fever.
October 7, 200421 yr Different systems, I know, but some of those charts don't make sense...I looked to see if the Geforce FX5900XT was included in the comparisons, and yes it was...so too was the card I recently upgraded from; the Radeon 9700. It is odd to see that in Toms' charts that the Radeon 9700 is outperforming the FX5900XT.In my experience, by switching to the FX5900XT, I gained an overall 10fps average over what the 9700 could produce, and the sim runs more smoothly too! When using the Radeon, I was using Rivatuner to assist it's performance, and overclock the card a little; the FX5900XT is at stock and not using any tweakers to help it!My system is, and was, based around an Athlon 3000XP+ Barton, 1.5gb PC2700 Ram, on a Gigabyte GA-7VA motherboard.
October 7, 200421 yr Well the 9700 PRO was generally a bit faster then the 5900 ULTRA if all the rest where the same at least if you run with a lot of antialiasing and anisotrophic and ps 2.0 water. Don
October 7, 200421 yr I'm not refering to the 9700PRO....just the regular 9700...the NON Pro! As can be seen by Toms' results, this non-pro outperforms the FX5900XT. In MY system it's the other way around! As I said, I get aprox 10fps more and smoother performance. I can now fly with high clouds, extended terrain, water detail, max textures, 4x AA, 8x AF, etc with my FX5900XT and maintain a steady 30fps (locked) in flight, regardless of weather, and even in external views whillst panning around the aircraft.... Of course, there are some areas where it drops dramatically...busy, AI full airports, etc, but you see this on Athlon 64/ Geforce 6800 systems too..I could never get that level of fps stability or rate; it was around 20-24fps with the Radeon and the same settings, and it was much less smooth.Perhaps the 9700Pro is a better card than the FX5900XT, I don't know, but for now, untill I can stretch to either 6800Pro or X800 levels, I'm happy enough with the FX5900XT...whatever Tomshardware.com may think! In my systtem, the FX is far superior!! :)
