Hi,I am thinking of getting an ATI 256MB X800 Pro but then I saw the nVidia 256MB Geforce 6800 GT and with its 16 pipelines (4 more than the X800 Pro), it looks a better card. However, I could really do with some opinions from people that have either of these cards and use them to play FS so that I know where to land my

Hi, for your CPU, anything above a 9800pro is probably an overinvestment. Now, a 9800pro will do perfectly well up to 1280x resolutions, provided, your CPU can supply the data... For 1024x, a 9600pro is perfect. For 1600x i.e. a X800 is perfect. However, pointing this out again, for 1600x, one really, really needs an adequate CPU. Perhaps just mainly consider, what kind of display (aka resolution) you use -and just as important, the ones you might intend use in the future- and you'll most certainly be on the safe side. Think display first. All the rest is the consequence of this/your decision. Get the trick? BTW, a second issue is: What kind of software do you want to use? If i.e. Linux or 3D gaming is required, Nvidia is probably the easier way to go. If FS is the main concern, maybe ATI has an advantage with regard to FS' weather. Personally, I prefer Ati's AA-ing. Hope this helps, cheers good luck and kind regards Jaap

Yes the 6800GT is a nice card and it
