October 25, 200421 yr Hi,I have a Dell D800 1.7 GHz Notebook with 64 MB GeForce 4200 Go graphics. I just upgraded to Video Bios 4.28.20.31.C1 (A05) from 4.28.20.31.A0. I am using Video driver 6.14.10.4487. Now, when I pass the mouse over gauges in the 2D panel, the panel disappears when a tool tip appears. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I have to go back to the BIOS that I had before?I'm using FS9.1, and had no problems prior to the Video BIOS upgrade. Thanks,Thomas Perry
October 25, 200421 yr You need to upgrade the video card driver - you are using the 44.87's. Current WHQL certified are 61.77. You're a long way behind!Allcott

October 25, 200421 yr Are you sure the 61.77 are WHQL certified. I downloaded them last night, they are not reported as certified at the download site nor does it show up in the download file name like earlier versions of drivers.Have not yet tried to install them.Paul.
October 25, 200421 yr I downloaded the drivers and installed them and nothing happened. The display settings window still says I am running the 4487 drivers. I assume this is because it is a laptop with GeForce 4200 go (Dell Mobile) chip, and I need to get the drivers from Dell. The highest drivers they are listing for download from Dell are 4487.I tried to use the old display.cfg file, and, the program no longer crashes when it tries to display the tool tips, the panel no longer disappears, but now the tool tip fonts are all screwed up, the tool tip now looks like just a bunch of lines and dots.Any other ideas? Sounds like the font problem the other guy had. Thanks,Thomas Perry
October 25, 200421 yr Nope, didn't know I needed to do that. When I read the readme file with the driver, it lists the GeForce4 Ti 4200, but not the GeForce4 4200 go (Dell Mobile). I tried to upgrade the driver through the Display Settings/Adapter/Driver Update function, but it said it could not find an updated driver in the associated directory and quit, so I don't think this driver will work with this card. Am I correct? Thanks,Thomas Perry
October 25, 200421 yr The best way of updating video drivers.....In add/remove programs remove(uninstall) the NVidia drivers. In Device manager remove the actual Video card.Shut down and restart.Cancel any "new hardware found" messagesRun Driver Cleaner(get it here ...http://www.guru3d.com/) to remove any remaining old files.Take care to select the correct category with this.Restart again and ignore/cancel "New hardware found "messagesNavigate to wherever you have stored your new drivers. Double click and let them install.Try these 66.72 WHQL - Ive been using them for a while with a T14200http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=881Dave
October 25, 200421 yr Thank you for responding, but, working with laptops is a little different. Can't remove the card, it's on the motherboard. Second, the card in particular in this laptop (GeForce4 4200 Go (Dell Mobile)) is not listed as a card supported by either of the drivers I have found at the nVidia website (6677, 6682 WHQUL). The only reference to the card that I can find on their website is a press release describing its release. When I tried to upgrade to the new drivers, the upgrade utility did not find drivers for this card in the driver set. I assume because it is searching for drivers for GeForce4 4200 Go (Dell Mobile) which is not listed as being supported.I believe that in developing the motherboard/video combination, Dell does some things differently, which could make the mainstream drivers incompatible. Is this true? Can the mainstream drivers be used with Dell laptop video chips? If so, how do I get it to upgrade if it's not recognized as a supported card? Thanks,Thomas
October 25, 200421 yr I went back to the original Video BIOS and it's all better. I assume I would like to upgrade the drivers, however. Would I get better perforamce/features if I did upgrade the drivers (If I can)? Thanks,Thomas
