December 17, 200421 yr Just curious really - does there come a point at which RAM doesn't or wouldn't get used in FS9 ? I have 1.5GB of 3200DDR - this works great for me, but I'm just interested....would there be any noticeable difference having 3GB etc ?Thanks in advance all,RegardsEddy
December 17, 200421 yr You see dimishing returns. especially over 1GB. FS itself would never uses 3GB of RAM, or even 1.5GB for that matter. The advantage is that with more RAM, data can be read once and stored in RAM intstead of being read from the drive every time it's needed. You probably notice this if you start FS, then shut it down and start it again. The second time, it starts much faster. However, with 1.5GB it's already very efficent and I'd be surprised if you saw *any* difference with 3GB.The one advantage I can see is the ability to use a RAM-disk to store frequently read files like scenery but that would be bit awkward to work with. -
