January 1, 200521 yr hi all,i installed the X800 XT PE last night. there's no visual artifacts with the card within Windows and FS9. however, in Device Manager there's 2 "unknown devices" listed. "right-click" on them and select "properties" and on the "general" tab there is 3 fields listed on that tab with the following info;Device type: other devicesManufacturer: unknownLocation: on Radeon X800 XT PEDevice status:this device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)to reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.Understood - now here comes the ''hair pulling part"!again, in Device Manager under "Display adapters"devices shown here are;Radeon X800 XT Platinum EditionRadeon X800 XT Platinum Edition Secondary"right-click" on either device and select "Properties" and on the General, Driver, Details, Resources tabs there is No mention of the X800 not being configured correctly or any driver files missing. according to Windows, all is well with the X800 XT PE under "Display adapters".also, whenever i restart Windows or "cold boot" the machine the Hardware Wizard pops up looking & asking the for the drivers for the above mentioned "unknown devices" located on the X800 XT PE. i tried several times to update the drivers manually within device mgr. for the "unknown devices" as well as installing the drivers from Ati's site (Cat. 4.12's) and Windows still can't locate the drivers. i've also tried removing the "unknown devices" in Device Manager but they come right back when i restart the computer.this is a Connect3D OEM X800 XT PE card. no Driver CD came with the card. the only drivers available for the card on the Connect3D web site is the Cat. 4.12's.i've never seen this kind of conflicting info. about a device in Device Manager before.is it possible that the Driver CD that would have come with the card had it been a boxed "Retail" card would contain Drivers that are not bundled with Cat. 4.12's? do i have a defective card? i have no idea what's going on here. any help would be greatly appreciated.thanks in advance for the help. happy flyin, fm
January 1, 200521 yr Sounds like you need to install the WDM Capture drivers. Look at the "Dial Up" section on this page: http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/r...11&submit=GO%21They are at the bottom... 3.63MB size.I modded my card's BIOS to deal with the issue. I have no need for the drivers and didn't want to deal with having to install and maintain them.Hope this helps,Greg
