Featured Replies

hello happy new year, i have a question about a ati radeon9800 pro 256 mb. when a run dxdiag it says under monitor 1 tab ,that agp is not available, my windows is in dutch so it's not proper english. I have just made a clean install of xp and put in the newest ati catalyst drivers, im sure that this the one windows is using, does somebody now how to fix this? fs9 is running ok, but every now and then my fps go down and back up again, maby related to this problem. this one is really mking me scratching my head so if anyone could help?? rick

Hi Rick,You need to install your motherboard's chipset drivers. Best thing to do is go to our motherboard manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your motherboard.Another way to check is to right click anywhere open on your desktop, then click on Properties, Settings, Advanced, and then the SmartGart tab. There you'll see the AGP speed, which is a function of your motherboard not your video card. I suspect your current AGP speed will be set to 1X (because the proper chipset drivers are not yet loaded).Though you may get away with simply installing the correct drivers (should be the case for you) the proper procedure for installing drivers after a fresh OS install is chipset drivers first, then DirectX, then video drivers.Hope this helps,Greg

thanks greg, when i go to properties, settings, advanced there is no smartgart tab, but a ati page with tabs for ati like 3d, colormanagement, adapter etc, my windows is in dutch so i could be translating wrong.i will install the correct drivers now for chipset, directx, and ati.i hope i don't have to do i compleet install for winxp and fs9 again?rick

if you have damaged your BIOS chip, the chances are the PC shop will tell you need a new motherboard and comper rebuild that will cost you upwards of a

"when i go to properties, settings, advanced there is no smartgart tab"And therein lies the critical clue... the motherboard's chipset drivers have not been installed.Cheers,Greg
