FPS Headaches.....

Featured Replies

Ok...I used to be able to get 20-30 fps in FS9 with all the eye candy turned up to about 75%. That was with a GeForce FX 5200 256Mb AGP4X card, 1 Gig of PC 2700 Ram, and a older MB, with my AMD XP2200 1.8Ghz Processor. I have upgraded to this.... AMD XP2200 1.8GHz (Same Processor) ASUS ATV8X-X MB (AGP8X, 400FSB) 1 Gig of PC3200 DDR Ram ATI Radeon X800 Pro 256Mb AGP8X Video Card (Slightly Overclocked) Omega Drivers for the Card. Now i cannot seem to get over 10 - 15 FPS on the ground with the same settings as before, and sometimes it bottoms out to as low as 3 - 5 FPS. What gives ? I know i am somewhat limeted with my processor. (Thats the next thing to upgrade) But with the upgrades i have made i should be seeing an improvment, not a decline in FPS. Can someone either give me some things to try here, or point to a site that can help me ?

Make sure that all your chipset drivers have been installed for your motherboard. Go to the chipset website (VIA or NVIDIA) and they will have those there. Also make sure that you use a Driver cleaner before you install your new video drivers. This will be a big help. What are your AA/AF settings? Have they changed. Also check your FS9.CFG and make sure that there is only one entry in there for your Display it should just be your new card make sure that your old card is not in there. Anyway I hope this helps.

Ok....Thanx for the advice. Where or what is the best driver cleaner to use ? Never used one before....

Also....MY AA, and AF are set to application prefrence right now, with everything else set to High Performamce. I was trying to see if that made a difference, but it didnt. What should my 3D seetings be to get better FPS on the card settings for what i have ?

Here is the Driver cleaner I use it is free. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3214.html As far as the 3d Settings go I am not sure for ATI I have Nvidia. I use the 8sAA and 8AF. Another thing to check is your PCI Latency, I just did this last night and I am amazed at the boost. Here is a link to it. http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=425&mode=full I am plastering it all over the forums because it is that good.
