March 4, 200521 yr My Dell 2.6 Gig that I bought about 7 months ago when I didn't think I was going to get back in to Flight Sims, and having no AGP bus for a fast video card ( on board video could only be upgraded with a PCI card), forced me to order a new PC today. PCI Express with a Nivdia GT 256 Meg card, 3.4 gig Pentium, 1 gig of the fast ram, etc.. I have FS9 set up on my PC now with a bunch of add on scenery and aircraft, and I love the way it is set up. Is it ok to use a Program like PC Relocator Ultra, to move the programs and files from the old PC to the New One, or should I Reinstall everything and hope I can remember what and where everything is that should be loaded to the new machine?
March 4, 200521 yr I'd recommend you first perform a clean installation of FS9 on your new PC, then move the entire FS9 folder from your old PC to the new one. That way all the registry entries and such are also created for you. -
March 5, 200521 yr I used PC Relocator Ultra once. An excellent program but you have to watch closely what is being moved. I changed video cards and other hardware in my new system and it relocated old settings from my old hardware. For instance I changed my name from James to Jim on the new system but it relocated James settings to my Document and Settings folder. I probably didn't read the manual enough before I began. If you're just moving FS9 it may work but again it will be making changes w/i the Document and Settings folder. I ended up reinstalling FS9 from scratch (ugh!).Jim
