March 6, 200521 yr Just finished upgrading from an AMD XP 3200+ / GF-FX 5900 Ultra to an AMD 64 3500+ (new Winchester core) and dual FX 6600 GT's in SLI. All I can say is WOW! It was worth the $600 to do the upgrade!!! In clear weather I'm getting 70+ FPS and 40+ in the clouds at 1280x960x32 with only 8x aniso running. If you are an AMD fan, and are looking for an excuse to upgrade, give this some serious thought...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/108867.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/108868.jpg(P.S. - Chris's AEU v7 dosen't even make this thing flinch!)Scott
March 6, 200521 yr Scott,I am alittle surprised here. I saw a test with benchmarks that clearly stated that while SLI can be great for some games it does nothing for FS.Alex
March 6, 200521 yr Incredible stuff, totally. Thanks for posting.I think your spex are similar now to some of the new Alienware AMD+SLI systems which also look incredible--and prices are pretty good too. JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
March 6, 200521 yr I'm surprised - I haven't seen any reviews lately about the lack of performance increases in FS when using SLI (work's been busier than normal, haven't been reading the forums as much). The whole package I'm running makes a big difference as well - I'm running RAID-0 with a pair of Maxtor 80GB SATA drives. If you have a fast chip and fast GPU's, it means nothing if what you're using to serve up the data isn't up to par as well!I was totally shock this morning when I woke up and found the CPU idling at 29
March 6, 200521 yr Well, even if SLI does nothing the specs of the machine make the mentioned fps look well possible to me. I guess your CPU makes all the difference.Alex
