Display problem

I have a problem with my pc. What happens is that when the pc boots and after the welcome screen when the desktop appears and halfway loading the start-up programs the monitor blacks out and comes on again. I have tried other graphics card drivers but still the same problem. At the moment I am using the nVidia 71.84 driver.I have a P4 3.2Ghz 1 GBRam PCI Express card GeForce PCX5900. In any case I did reformat and reinstalled XP pro and to my suprise the problem is still there. I gave up now I don't know what to do and where to look. I also installed the Omega drivers but still no go. My card is only 5 months old. What I have also noticed is that every time I try to copy a video file, nomatter what size it is, the same thing happens i.e. the monitor goes black and comes on again.Nevertheles I will have my card tested in another pc and see what happens.Stelios

I really don't think this is a problem. My system does the same thing with my ATI card installed. It's just loading the driver's and making sure there are no memory address conflicts during startup. Some drivers are slow starting up, some fast. I have the P4 3.6GHz lGB DDR2 RAM Radeon X800XT PCIe Video Card and the Dell 2005FPW LCD monitor for reference. I also have XP/SP2 installed. If there is a problem I sure would be interested in a solution.Jim

Jim do you also have the problem when you try to copy/paste a video file? e.i. the monitor blinking?Stelios

No monitor blinking whatsoever. Have you checked out the trouble-shooting section for NVidia video cards over at http://www.tweakguides.com/? They may have a suggestion to fix your problem there.Jim
