April 18, 200521 yr Hi All,Well, I thought I would write a little post to describe my experiance with water cooling.Firstly a little background, I have a P4 Prescott CPU, and as anyone with one will know they are a hot little beasty, as such the stock cooler when running makes a din no less than that of a hovercraft at full throttle, and with my PC in the bedroom those late night FS flights usually end up with me getting an earfull from my long suffering missus due to the noise.A few months ago I purchased a "silent" fan/heatsink kit, which while quieter than the stock cooler was still causing friction for my night flights, so this was still not good enough. After a bit of searching around on the net, I started looking into water cooling, but, like many others I guess, are worried about the mixture of water and hi-tech PC components not mixing well together, but it was this route or shift the PC into the back garden!!.After a bit more reasearch I came to the conclusion that although quieter, most water cooling soloutions were not only complicated to fit, but were still noisy due to the fact that most have a radiator and fan arrangement. Then I noticed a little piece of kit called the Zalman Reserator, looked like it would fill my needs perfectly, so at
