April 21, 200521 yr I noticed that with many of the more complex addons like the DF Bonanza combined with detailed airprots and scenery would cause delays in the sim when switching views etc. For example, if using the external view for a while then switching to the VC, the textures would take a while to load up. Also, bringing up the kneeboard or alt+tabbing out of FS9 would cause a harddrive thrashing frenzy and sometimes even opening the default GPS would take 10 seconds or more.So I took the plounge and replaced my 2x256MB TwinMOS with 2x512MB TwinMOS.-As expected, overall performance is unchanged-Switching views and alt+tabbing is instantaneous now-The new RAM, despite being several years newer and of the same brand, doesn't take as tight timings as the old ones. This results in slightly lower benchmark scores but the difference is hardly noticable (1-2%). Actually, one of the sticks does, but the system would not boot at my old settings with both sticks in place (stupid me didn't reset the CMOS before installing the modules). Currently running Cas2 3-8-3 at 200 MHz. -
