WindowXP SP2 Any tips??

Featured Replies

Hi thereAre there any Tips on Installing the SP2 patch for WindowXP and MSFS 2004?Would apreciate if there areThanksMC767

Don't. If you want to go ahead anyway, and you find in negatively affects your frame rates and causes stuttering like it did to me , uninstall it and then run System restore in XP. Make sure you make a restore point before installing it. Microsoft admits that about 15% of people installing it will run into problems.

Works fine. No need to do anything special.

idiotic "advise" that should not be followed. If you've problems they're NOT due to SP2 but due to bad 3rd party software (usually trojans and other nasties that no longer work after SP2 is installed).SP2 works just fine, and provides a major boost to prevent malware from infecting your machine.90% of people reporting infestations now are the ones who like this person refuse to install SP2 and then come back whining about how poor the security of Windows is after they've been hit (by something that simply installing SP2 would have stopped dead in its tracks).

HiThanks for for advices guys. :)Will create restore point and install...hoping for the best.Cheers!

Hi;I installed SP2 and actually noticed an improvement in FS performance. But thats my system, others were not as fortunate. And Joern, your second post should have been your ONLY post, in myopinion. DennyProfessional Tourist

Just an advice to get rid of stutters after SP2: disable DEP in boot.ini file (alwaysoff instead optin).
