May 16, 200521 yr First some background. Dell 8000 3.4, 1 gig ram, XP SP2, GeForce FX5950 Ultra, 500 watt PS and Dell 2001FP monitor. The flat panel display is super. FS9 runs pretty good. Had Nvidia driver 71.64 for quite some time but anisotropic filtering never worked. Any setting gave me all light blue scenery so I didn't have it in effect. Antialiasing was set at 2X, high performance setting and a FS resolution of 1024X768. I was always disappointed though because the scenery, although sharp near the plane was blurred from 1000 to 2000' away. I tried the new drivers 71.84 and 71.89 and didn't see any improvement although with anisotropic filtering, the scenery worked now but adjusting the setting showed no difference. So I used a driver cleaner program and reinstalled 71.89 and....WOW, I've never seen such clarity. No drop in FR too. But the problem I'm having with Flight Sim is after a few minutes of flying, when switching views with the hat switch, it's not a clean switch. It shows a momentary (fraction of a second sometimes) view of the spot view, or the pretakeoff ground view, or the full panel front view when looking out the side or anywhere other than the front in 2d panel mode. Same thing happens with the minimum gauge view. Also, when this occurs, when the mouse curser hits an area where a tool tip could pop up, all the gauges jump aroung and the panel will look unstable for a second. The temp of the GPU is normal. I'm wondering if it's the driver or settings. Seems to be worse when I use Active Sky. Any changes in the weather make the panel and gauges flash and jump. Any thoughts from anyone? After going through many settings, I was flying for an hour tonight. For the first 10 minutes, all worked well. Then the flashing panel/gauges started for the duration. Whenever the tooltips popped up, I noticed the problems (as well as switching views. But started thinking how hard the video card was working and checked the temps. GPU core was around 72 and as high as 76 degrees. Is this too hot?Michael
May 21, 200521 yr That's the exact same problem I'm having. I solved the gauge weirdness by turning off "render to texture," but I'm still getting the split-second flash of another view (usually 2D front) on a view change, popup window, or whenever pulling the cursor down to the toolbar.I've got a 6600GT, same set of drivers you do. I sure hope it's not temps, because this thing is factory-fresh, I just installed it last night!Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia Lewis "Moose" Gregory Durham, North Carolina
