Intel Dual Core + FS9 !?!?!?

Featured Replies

Intel has just announced trying to get "millions" of their new Pentium D dual core processor chips to the public by "the end of the year". So here's a cool conjecture. FS2006 has not been announced this year, thus far, in the same timing as FS9 was for it's release in 2003. Wouldn't it be nice if FS10 was being "rewritten" to take advantage of what should be a nice boost in performance for the Pentium D processor, in which case it could be delayed well into 2006. Just a thought!Randy Jura, KPDX

hmmm, maybe the weather and ai could use the 2nd processor. And MS could provide "hooks" so 3rd party developers could use the 2nd as well, feeing up the main for FS10. All kinds of possibilities... :-)billg

Hi everybody, short message from 'the underground'. The chances FS will run quicker on Intel's Pentium D vs AMD64 X2 CPUs is probably less than 25%. Perhaps check this article by 'the Register': http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/05/27/in...keting_dollars/Intel's marketing machinery seems very well oiled... Therefore, I'ld say: Maybe choose technology above 'falling' for this powerful marketing machine..? Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Although FS by itself may not run quicker on a dual core, for those of us who run a lot of other apps at the same time, like Squawkbox, ActiveSky, ServInfo, Internet Explorer, etc., I would expect a noticeable boost. Personally, I'm hoping for an AMD64 X2, but they may be few and far between for a long while and twice as expensive as Intel's offerings. Looks like Intel's production capability will far outstrip AMD's.Don S.
