July 11, 200520 yr No, I'm not talking about the OAT, although it feels like 60 degrees here now (but it's only 30).Right now, not playing, just lurking about quite calmly, the hw monitor and BIOS power management reads 60 deg. cpu temerature. I haven't made any changes to the computer lately, but seem to remember it was down below 40 deg. earlier on.So what can I do to get the temp down, my cpu fan is just three month old, and not of the cheapest kind. I also have case fans, but the side is off so I don't know how much that helps.Would it help to reinstall the cpu fan with new paste, and in that case, what can go wrong?brEagle
July 12, 200520 yr 60 at idle? ya thats deff too hot, I was concerned when I was getting 52 at full load. What you can do is get a better CPU fan (faster bigger more powerful) and get a new Thermal Paste, Arctic silver is great stuff you can see up to 15 degree drops just from the paste alone. Also close the side! Dust is getting into your fans and parts making it work less efficently.
July 12, 200520 yr Last time I did it I just used a very soft cloth and some alcohol on it and it cleaned up perfectly.
