My Email address is [email protected]. Send me a short note and then I email my LL to you. OKGary

Jaap,My memory is 1 gig probably sdram but not sure.CPU is a AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200. 2.20 GHzOS is Windows XP SP2.Mainboard driver I'm not sure.I uninstalled FS9 and reinstalled it later that day, but still the problem continued. FS2002 now works fine, but I's rather get FS9 to work since I have so much bought addons..Gary

First of all the inside of this newborn is very clean. I have two rear fans, another over the CPU and one on the side panel. Total of 4 fans. That should do, right?I got additional error msg this time saying "HTTP.SYS Address 2000000 base at B1FE4000, Data Stamp 41672744.". All other programs work great. Only FS2004 (Memory Hog) does not function..The "Geek" that put this together will be here tonight. I'm trying to pick get as much information as I can to help him and I to figure out what to do next.. All of you guys have been great. When and if we find the problem we will let you guys know. I'm sure you are all wanting to know.Gary

Hi Gary, the last message - and in case of interest, request for a contact - was for Greg 'Soarpics'. Anyway, the next questions: - Did you build the machine yourself? - Did you try what Greg suggested (open the case to get some fresh air inside)? - What's the exact mainboard type? Is the bios upto date? - Did the OS come pre-installed before you re-installed? - 1 GB of RAM, but how many modules? And - if you can tell - which types (PC3200, PC2700, etc) or brand? If you're uncertain or didn't assemble the FlyTendo yourself, you can perhaps point us to the manufacturer's homepage? - Upon re-installing, at which point were the mainboard drivers installed and where did you get them from? From the CD? Generally put, tracking errors requires methodology. The stop error you're getting makes it look like something hardware related. If you get such errors again, please make sure you write them down. Try to be as explicit as you possiblty can. This will help big times and little by little you'll certainly get there. Whether another game works usually doesn't mean much. Btw, did you install the FS9 update? Final question: Are you certain your power supply is upto the task? Sorry for bombarding you with questions, Gary :-) Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Yeah, and while he's there, make him 'fabricate' a nice list of all the components in da box. Good luck Jaap

Guess we'll have to wait for s few days, his wife went into labor..Gary

I had a similar problem with the last machine I built. It finally turned out to be a bad memory stick. Did you try the memtest program mentioned earlier in this thread? That's what helped me find the problem.Back when I was having the trouble, memtest would only run for a few minutes before reporting a failure. I took the memory back to the shop where I bought it and exchanged for another stick. With the new stick, memtest ran for days without a failure... and no more nasty crashes.

No I have not ran the Memtest program because I know nothing of memory address to use the commands.Gary

Hi Gary, you don't need to know any commands whatsoever. What you do need to know is how to burn a bootable CD from a so called 'iso image'. I don't know whether the standard MS burning function can do this as I use a burning program called 'Nero Burning Rom'. Nero usually is bundled with CD/DVD-burners. All you need to do is download the memtest86+ iso image from www.memtest.org and burn it. Then change the system's boot sequence in the bios and let it run a couple of passes. The more the better. Howto enter the bios and change the boot sequence is also described in the mainboard manual. Good luck and kind regards Jaap

We'll so much for the memory being bad that experiment did not work. We bought two 512k Corsair Pro Series DDR 3200 400 mhz chips. Install them. Ran FS9 and hit the same wall.Let me ask a question. When we ran FS9 in safe mode, I guess using DirectX graphics only, It ran great. No problems. Could I have a Bad ATI Graphics Card? Think maybe that is the problem. The Geeks at Best buy thought the same way you guys thought, Buy the memory first. Thank goodness for their 30 day return policy.Any thoughts?? BTW we ran memtest86 with no problems. To answer other thread questions we do have FS9 updated.

Hi Gary, a little question regarding memtest; how many passes did you let it run? Sometimes errors only become visible after 5-10 passes. Besides being bad memory, error messages can be an indication that certain memory settings within the bios need to modified. What does the sticker on the power supply mention? Specially, how many amps are indicated for the 12V lead? Case you have a spare display adapter to test, it can't hurt trying. Again, which mainboard driver version are you using and in which order did you install the OS and drivers? Last time I'll ask... :-) Finally, are you running the latest mainboard bios? Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Hello,Well the verdict is in. It was the BIOS. I finally figured out how to update the BIOS and now everything works great. I know someone will say,"I told you so"Thanks to everyone who contributed to this subject. And I'll now fade to black.......Gary

Jaap,I was wrong, it is not the BIOS. After 24 hours of re-installing all the FS9 addons, I hit the blue wall again..What do you mean about the mainboard driver?I install Windows XP Home Edition then went on the internet and updated everything up to SP2. I installed the ATI Video card and then the Creative Audigy 2 sound card. I then installed FS9.I am running the latest bios which solved or masked the problem temporally.Gary

Hi Gary, was just gonna log off when I saw your post... For the mainboard driver, go to viaarena.com and download the latest via4in1 chipset driver. With Via chipsets and XP-SP2, it's important to not use certain/older 4in1 packages (often still contained on CD-Roms accompaniing hardware). With SP2, these older drivers would have overwritten the SP2 AGP-table entries. If memory isn't failing, 4in1 v.4.55 and later packages don't do this anymore. Now, usually, the mainboard driver is the first thing to go on after the OS install and updates. Followed by the display adapter driver, etc. Therefore, I don't know whether installing the mainboard drivers last and on top of the rest will cause trouble? If you run into problems again, perhaps try a re-installation of the display adapter driver? Hope you get the idea (think bottom-up so to say). Case you saved all the OS updates (which I - generally - recommend doing, to not have to expose an unprotected XP to the internet and in case you maybe need/decide to re-install one day), sometimes the easiest is to start all over again and only connect to the internet once your system is up and running, updated and protected. Btw, by the time you've finished setting everything up, I think it still is a good idea to let memtest86+ run say at least 24 hours (50-100 passes). This will stress test the subsystem. If no errors occur, FS could serve to test the rest... Hope this adds to thoughts, good luck and kind regards Jaap PS, by the time you've finished, you'll be a geek yourself!! :-) PSS, you can find the updates the OS installed in your Windows root directory in case you want to downlaod and save them somewhere (they're the 'uninstall' KBs followed by 6-digit numbers). Using these 6-digit numbers will allow you to find the the relevant updates at microsoft.com.
