Flickering with ATI Radeon 256mb 9600

Featured Replies

HiToday I upgraded to a ATI Radeon 256mb 9600, Im very happy with it as I now get frame rates I had only dreamt about, when I fly there is no problem with shimmering or flickering terrain etc etc..however whenever I press certain keys such as ALT to gain access to the above screen menu the screen flickers for a few seconds, it also does this at the create flight screen, if I use my mouse to select any options the screen will flicker..hope Im making sence here, strange that inflight absolutely no problem (s), I figure perhaps the hard drive may be interfering with the vid card?, Im not sure, any help with this would be greatly appreciated, as yet I have'nt upgraded the driver, and the flickering problem does not occour with any other software I am running....my system1g Ram PC2700 DDR Ram (2x512)ASUS P4SGX MBSeagate HDThanks

Hi and welcome to the forums. This was originally a driver issue after FS9 was released. But it was fixed just a few months after the sim's release. What driver version are you using? Try the latest from ATI or Omega (he does very nice tweaked ATI driver sets).Good luck,Greg

Hi Greg,Nice to see you back :)"This was originally a driver issue after FS9 was released. But it was fixed just a few months after the sim's release.".....yes, I agree. However here's a twist to the tale for I was round helping my neighbour the other day to update the drivers for his GeForce4 Ti4220. I installed the latest available Omega driver set and was disappointed to see the flickering in FS9.1 as described in the original post. Reverting back to an Omega set now nearly a year old cured the problem! If it ain't broke don't fix it. So true sometimes :(Cheers!Mike
