September 20, 200520 yr Hi all,I have a LOGITEC WINGMAN FORCE 3D that generally works fine when the aircraft is airborne, my problems start when taxiing or landing as I have absolutely no control via the joystick of the front nose wheel of the aircraft which usually turns by itself 90 degrees from the expected direccion.More info:This joystick has a USB connection, my OS is Windows XP Professional with DirectX9 (I think), downloaded the latest drives recommended by Logitech. The pc is a AMD ATHLON, 1.00 GHz, 512 MB RAMI have done multiples calibrations and nothing has effect on this problem with this rebel nose wheel.Help please, generally it works well whilst in flight but it's really frustrating not being able to control the plane on take off and landing ending most of the time on the grass after a perfect (or near) approach. Thanks in anticipation.Manale
September 21, 200520 yr Hello Manale,You did not mention if this happens with all your A/C so I'll assume that it does.Open the main screen menu, clik Aircraft > Realism and at the bottom right make sure that in the box marked flight controls that the autorudder box is checked (See attached photos)Hope this works for you otherwise if you have a rudder channel on your joystick it maybe either not working or not assigned via the joystick settings page.Good luck.Douglashttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/127616.txthttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/127617.jpg
September 23, 200520 yr Hi Douglas,Thanks a million for all the troubles you took to help me with my little problem.Firstly, yes the problem happens with all A/C, defaults and add-ons.Tryed your suggestion and still no change, I really don't have a clue what the reason of this problem may be.Tomorrow Saturday I will "operate" on it, some kind of "open heart surgery" and if it doesn't survive the operation, that would be a very good reason to buy a new and good one.I was thinking to buy a CH joystick, any other suggestion ?.Regards,Hector (Manale)
September 23, 200520 yr No trouble at all. Is there a twist axis for the rudder on that joystick. I have a cyclone(inexpensive joystk) with twist rudder and works fine. Maybe the assigned axis for the rudder/nosewheel is not set which is a different section to the autorudder that is in the realism section. If you can borrow a second stick then you can verify that there is a problem.Douglas
September 24, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I am not as familiar with FS9, but I have used the Force 3D and the digital Pro for years. first thing to do is to check if the rudder twitches on its own in the test page. But even before that, did you put in the installation CD before you plugged it in? If you are on the net, you can download the complete installation prog from www.Logitech.com EDIT: Reread your post, you have the latest prog. Logitech support, last timne I talked to them, was not aware of the solution and told me it was time for a new stick, past the one year warranty. NOT TRUE.I was having trouble with my nosewheel, and went thru a lot of joysticks before I began resolving the problem by reinstalling Direct X 9C. Even if it's installed already, it may be corrupted and it won't hurt anything. 9C performs better for me than the version FS9 provides. I suggest you download the redistributable version and burn it or save on your HD to save time later, I reinstall it around 6 months to a year intervals- or when my nose gear acts up.I have used both, and prefer the non feedback version actually. The spring gives me a greater sense of what I am doing, and the feedback does not help as much as I thought it would with trim. The feedback version was put on my bro's puter, the one advantage I can think of for it is that the difference in pressure between rudder and elevator/aileron can help somewhat with not putting in rudder inadvertantly. But the X and Y, I breath and it moves! I am speaking as one who has extensively used both products. Both do give good value, yokes and rudder pedals have potentiometers that must be cleaned. Since I got smart, I haven't done anything but use my Logitech joysticks heavily for more than five years. Some members have said the problems with Logitech are due to the cheap, plastic nature of the product. If that is true, I don't see how my problems have been consistently solved by reinstalling DirectX 9C.Logitech also has a small utility on their website that will totally clear your previous calibration so you can start fresh. It didn't help me, but it might help you.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
September 24, 200520 yr Hi Donny,I wanted to send you a couple of lines to thank you for your suggestions. Believe me, I tryed your suggestions and spent great part of Saturday trying anything else............and nothing work.I just give up. Maybe is now the right time to buy a new one. Thanks again.Manale (Hector)
September 24, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Sorry it didn't work. I guess you are sure that you started the installation prog before plugging the joystick in the computer, and it was plugged in to a live outlet at that point when the prog told you to plug it in. Also the prog was unzipped totally, I don't remember I did it a long time ago, but running zipped .EXEs can cause trouble sometimes. As an absolute last resort, maybe a complete uninstall and unplugging. Guess you did that too. There is "profiling" software, but generally it is much better to use the in-game support when available.I have never touched them, but there are sensitivity adjustments in the settings page of FS9. I usually fly at the "hard" realism setting, activating DG drift which is pointless with HSI planes makes it "custom" but it flies the same.If it is really time for a new one, and you are sure you are past the one year replacement warranty, (Logitech can look up the serial # if you have no receipt) I don't know about CH sticks but have heard some good stuff about Saitek. The rudder on their lower end models is a seperate paddle instead of a twist setup, which seems like it could be a good idea. The non feedback version is 30 bucks from Logitech, but maybe there is something about your system that doesn't get along with them period.Sorry...:-hmmm
October 9, 200520 yr HI and sorry if this is to late, been away from flight sim scene for too long.Check if the rudder calibration is working via control panel/game controller. Also on my Logitech Force 3d there is an option to mechanically turn off the rudder function which is a twist action of the Joystick itself.Make sure it's enabled before connecting to the USB port or switching the PC on.Play around with rudder sensitivities in flight sim, try external view of your plane and watch for rudder movement as well as nose wheel movement. Check auto cordination settings. Also check joystick settings that you are actualy using the rudder axis for rudder/nose wheel control.
