Computer Rebooting

Featured Replies

I recently posted a message regarding my computer rebooting while running FS.Think I may have found what the problem is.Had a reboot today and when windows had finished loading I reported the problem to microsoft and it came back with a solution."The error was likely caused by Windows R driver for realtek AC97 ALCXWDM.SYS ." It gave me a website and a driver to install which I have done.Could someone explain to me what this driver I have mentioned is which has caused my system to crash and is it known to cause probs with FS as this is the only program that causes this to happen.I understand sound problems can cause alot of crashes if things aren't configured properly.many thanks.

AC97 is your onboard sound device. You might have to get a different driver for it,I don't know which one you tried. You can also try this:Type dxdiag in the run command box. Then go to the sound tab,see what your sound device is.Under that box,you will see DirectX features.Turn the Hardware sound acceleration level one tick from full. Turning this setting down 1 or 2 notches sometimes helps alot of game problems. All this is,of course,if you have NO soundcard, and are using onboard sound...........hope it helps,,,Stan
