Can't turn off hyperthreading?

I read in the forums here about hyperthreading and how if you turn it off it can give you better performance. Well the problem with my setup is I can't find any "off" setting. I only have 1-5 and AUTODoes 1 mean it acts only as 1 CPU?I have an epox motherboard, AMD FX-55 chip, running windows XP Pro SP2Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

AMD does not have the hyperthreading referenced throughout this and other fora. That issue was confined to the Pentium 4 cpu's.
