October 13, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I went on the IBM site to see if there was any info on my monitor. I saw the option for a system scan to upgrade drivers, hey what can it hurt? Got the message, must reboot, okay do it later... then I saw one of the files was a bios upgrade. Don't wanna do it, deleted it, when I rebooted it said "windows is installing software for your new hardware"... XXXX BIOS, missing. Uh-Oh... the computer boots, but no mouse. Plus an error message, PCI IRQ routing table error. The PS2 port seems to have vanished off the face of the earth, and my attempts to deal with it are severely limited by no mouse. Neither the Logitech scrol with its own setup prog installed or the Emachines mouse that came with it work. My Crystal sound drivers and Stanndard Floppy controller are registering conflicts. Emachines tells me I need new bios. I found the OEM bios for my Trigem Napoli 2, and got it to a floppy, but do I really need to flash and if so, how?I am supposed to have a Emonster Pentium III 550, but system data says Intel Family 6 model 7 perocessor. I'm confused... and grounded.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
October 14, 200520 yr I am starting to think it is more a BIOS settings issue than BIOS. The date and type of BIOS is still the same. My mouse is working now that I put in an adapter to my USB hub. I was actually up for a short hop in a Cub in the dark with no mouse and had decent frames, now I have a mouse so longer flights with the planner and GPS will be easier. Still no sound though. I notice a lot of PCI stuff priorities at "auto", I think there are resource conflicts but this is probably not a "fatal" issue. Live and learn.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
October 14, 200520 yr Don't think a program could've changed your BIOS just like that. How do you know the file was a BIOS upgrade? If you try to run a setup program but delete parts of it you're bound to screw things up. Why not put the file back and re-run the driver update? -
October 14, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!When I saw it on my desktop, I forget the name exactly but in ended in BIOS. That's when I got scared and deleted it. I will seriously consider your suggestion though.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
