November 7, 200520 yr I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo tired of "out of memory" problems. Ive read everything on these forums, nothing fits me seemingly so I ran across this little program with a 15 day trial to "manage memory" on the fly in the background, anyone heard of it or used it?http://pbsftwr.tripod.com/id12.htmlRandy Jura, KPDX
November 7, 200520 yr Since I've worked in both WAN support and development, I've received solicitations for such tools quite often. To keep my answer short, I ignore them--waste of money in my opinion. As for MSFS, many out of memory errors are caused by bad add on scenery bgl's. I've been running the sim with 384 Megs of Ram--so my PC isn't the "sharpest tool in the shed". The only time I've every received an OOM error is from a bad bgl. Granted I follow one rule--I start my system in a "pristine" state and no processes that aren't absolutely required are allowed to run. What those are vary by system. On the odd chance you're suffering from a system config issue, I will move this over to the MSFS H/W forum where the gurus there can give your post and issue its due diligence.Good Luck,John
November 7, 200520 yr First thing to check is that you don't have a bad memory stick. Assuming you've done that with MemTest or some such then you need to check for bad addons as John suggests. I'd also check you don't have some stupid tweak or tip for memory management from the `snake oil` collection - like fixing virtual memory size or something silly.Allcott
November 7, 200520 yr Hello,I agree with John, my experience is a landclass .bgl file mixed with scenery .bgl files in a scenery folder. And a .bgl file MUST be in a scenery folder BUT NO texture folder may be associated.Hope it helps.
