November 23, 200520 yr I have been using FS for several years in its different version. I have usually never had any big problem. Now I have however fonund a new and strange problem. This seams to be some kind of memory leak. The problem makes FS hang and return me to the desktop after 15 - 20 min of VFR flying. FS doesn't krasch completely, it just minimizes and show an error window stating that the system has become low on memory. When I at this time check the memory usage in the task manager I can see that FS has allocated around 1.7 Gb for itself. When I answer OK to the error message FS restarts and returns me to the "create flight" screen.I have now investigate further into this and can see that directly after taking off from an airport, FS is allready using around 400Mb memory. This number increases constantly during the flight. To make this even stranger, I can mantion that the memory usage increases even if FS is paused and minimized. The rate of increase is around 1Mb per second.I have checked with a friend who is also using FS in a similar setup. He has also got the same problem. It is however slower at his site. He can fly around 1h before it crashes. The FS version I'm using is: 9.1I have some add-ons installed, these are:- FS Global 2005- My World 2004- Sweclass- FS Scene 1, 2 och 3- Roads and rivers of Europe- Flying club- Flight environment:My system is:- Dell XPS Gen 5- P4 3.6- 2 Gb minne- Ait Radeon X850 (Catalyst 5.11 driver)- Creative SB Audigy 2- Win XP, SP2Does anyone know what this might be?
November 24, 200520 yr Hi,Try this:Click on the Addon Scenery folder and create a new folder called: LC_RREuropeClick on LC_RREurope and create a Scenery folderSo, the path to this folder will be Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryLC_RREuropeSceneryDON'T CREATE A TEXTURE FOLDERNow, navigate to Flight Simulator 9SceneryRREuropeSceneryand locate the file: europe.bgl Cut and paste this file into: Flight Simulator 9Addon SceneryLC_RREuropeSceneryBelieve it or not this file contains LandClass data! Now, start up FS9 and activate the LC_RREurope folder and then move it to a position below Roads and Rivers of Europe. The following is an extract from my Scenery.cfg file:(Area.044) <------- N.B. square bracketsTitle=LC_RREuropeActive=TRUELayer=44Local=Addon SceneryLC_RREuropeRemote=Required=FALSE(Area.045)Title=ScotflightLandClassActive=TRUELayer=45Local=D:Program FilesVisualFlightScotflightScotflightLandClassRemote=Required=FALSE(Area.046)Title=Roads and Rivers of EuropeActive=FALSELayer=46Local=SceneryRREuropeRemote=Required=FALSE(Area.047)Title=Addon SceneryActive=TRUELayer=47Local=Addon SceneryRemote=Required=FALSEClose down FS9 and then restart to allow it to rebuild its indexes. Go fly and see whether the memory leak is still present. If this works, then the guys you should be thanking are Joachim Buhre (Jobia) for making the discovery and Jaap de Groot (baksteen33) for recently drawing this to my attention.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...66991&mode=fullGood luck!Mike
November 27, 200520 yr Hi there,Thanks for the tip. It worked like a charm. Strange that this isn't mentioned at the RR Europe homepage. It should be a common problem.Regards,Per MSweden
