December 26, 200520 yr hi ,i have a athlon 3000+, 1024 mb ram radeon 9600 pro 256 mb agpa7n8x motherboardi use level d 767 and mi frame rates are good enough for me with all sliders to the right, except ai and clouds set to simplebut i found that e.g. settings overcast does not display overcastonly when i use advanced clouds this is the casebut then the frame rates drop so heavy it is almost impossible to flyif i would upgrade to a 6600GT graphics card, would i gain some frame rates?i do not want to pay for a agp high end card because this is only a temp. solutioni want to wait for fs10 to see what is the best solution regarding dual core cpu etc.thanks for your helpivo
December 26, 200520 yr higeneral opinion is that fs2004 is CPU driven.not video card.i'm not saying you wouldn't benefit from say a 512mb ATI1800xt,just not as much as you would think.better off saving for the best CPU and card you can afford.AMD cpu's are the better value,i'm waiting for FS10 before i do a major upgrade.i'm hoping it will be SLI compatible, and also make use of dual core CPU's best wishes steve
December 27, 200520 yr I have a similar system, and i just went from a 9600XT to a x850xt. Love the card so far, id highly reccomend it. Check out www.microcenter.com I went to the store here in houston and got mine for 300 and also i have a MIB for 50 bringing this bad boy to 249. Check it out, and also look at Newegg! Chase Barnett
December 31, 200520 yr I'm currently running with an AMD XP3000+, 1024mb PC3200 Ram and have the BFG 6600GT video card. It all runs pretty well for me :) I have most detail settings to the right, except AI Traffic (using Traffic 2005 and there's just too much at high settings - you can sit for a half hour at least at EGLL in a queue if you set to 75% and above!)Over dense areraas with lots of traffic it can hover around the mid teens for FPS, but once clear and even with heavy clouds (Flight Environment), I stick at 30 FPS (locked at 30) and running 1280x960, with ingame AA, and 8x AF.Overall, it seems to be a good card, and will last well, and work well with any near-future upgrades provided you stick with AGP!
