My First Upgrade..

Featured Replies

I entered the flight sim world of FS9 with an Gigabyte KT400 MoBo, AMD 2.6 Chip, and 512 meg of Kingston DDR Ram on Win 2000 Pro.Now I am looking at my first upgrade. I have read everything I can find and I really feel no further ahead in terms of feeling confident in what is a good route. One says no, one says yes on any given item. I guess what I am looking for is any kind of no/yes one way or another or if what you see in the following potential upgrade system raises any flags that I need to be aware of.ASUS Socket 939 NFORCE4 SLI MoBoAMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Dual Core Chip2G of Kingston DDR 400MHz RAMNX6600GT-TD128E Graphics Card AC97 Codec 3d Integrated AudioAny thoughts would be very very welcome.ThanksDarryl

Its a great system except for the videocard! Why on earth would you go for a low range card on a high end system? :)Why not change the CPU from a 4800+ to a 4400+ and spend the extra money saved on a better card. Theres quite a saving to be had for only 200Mhz! If you're going all out on an upgrade you might as well go the whole way!7800GT or even better a 7800GTX would be a far better solution to match the rest of your system.

Cheers,
