February 9, 200620 yr What do you suggest I do to prevent myself the agony if my pc/hard drive crashes? I have put a ton of time and money into building my sim to how I like it. I want to make sure that in the event of an emergency, I can load up and get running on a new CD without having to reinstall everything. What do you all suggest? USB HD? Ideas? ThanksBrad
February 9, 200620 yr A USB Hard drive is a good idea.. As long as it is bigger than your current internal hard-drive, just make images (note I say image and NOT copy becuase if you just copy files over, regestry entries related to the game won't be sent over rendering some add-ons useless!!) of it on a regular basis and when your FS2004 is at a steady state with all the add-ons and stuff! :DAs a bonous of making an image of your hard drive it will keep everything on you hard drive the excat way it is so it will be simple to restore in case of trouble!Just make sure that you do-not make a backup when there are problems on your hard-drive otherwise you'll just have to deal with them again when you restore! :(
February 10, 200620 yr I once had my computer crash. It sucked. Never, nevr turn off the computer mauely by disconecting it or holding the on or off button. February 10, 200620 yr I format my HD every so often. Think about what you have to reinstall and keep proper paperwork of all keys and the like. Do a format C once and you will see what you have to keep to reinstall everything. The idea is to try it 1st so that you will be prepared if it really happens. JimCYWG
