February 26, 200620 yr I learned of this device from a recent Tips and Tricks installment by David "Opa" Marshall. Acquired new in the box on eBay for $26, the Nostromo promised to be an extremely affordable option to greatly enhance cockpit control. For those unfamiliar with the Speedpad premise, the unit is a programmable left handed mini-keyboard. Every button and position on the device can be assigned to any key command in MSFS. To further expand (or complicate) it's capabilities, the Nostromo has four different modes so each button can be programmed to control four separate functions. Each button can either be programmed as a single key click, or as a macro providing for multiple key usage (ie, shift + e + 1 to open exit #1). With a Speedpad in your left hand, you can now fly and throttle with the right while switching instruments and displaying panels with the left, or changing views, or whatever you want to do.If you can't afford $2,000+ for a full GoFlight rack, the Belkin Nostromo N52 Speedpad will give you the cockpit control you want for a fraction of the price. It's USB connected and programs through a sweet graphical interface. Easy and cheap; you can't go wrong. In my opinion, this unit is one of the most underrated control devices in flight simming today. Thanks to David Marshall for helping me out, and I hope I've passed along that help to someone else.lynx
April 2, 200620 yr Hello,I have recently purchased the SpeedPad n52 too, but I cant't have it working properly:Macros do not work at all; the single key commands are the only working functions.Programming the n52 through FSUIPC doesn't work either; I have asked about it on Pete Dowson's forum, for no result for now.The n52 is visible through the Windows joystick interface and appears properly in the keyboard, mouse and USB devices.I have read the documentation but I can't find no solution.I did install the n52 on my 2 computers - same bad result for both.I am using the PMDG 737 that requires many key commands; hence the n52 would be useful...Could sbdy give me his settings ? Maybe I could have it working at last...
April 2, 200620 yr About a year ago I purchased a X-keys desk top keypad. It has 20 keys and each key can be programmed for two commands.A command can be a single key stroke or a multiple keystroke. It sounds like it is very similar to the n52. I purchased mine at Fry's and find it to be very handy for FS9.Chuck:P
