Gameport/USB Pedals

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anybody had any experience with the following hardware combination:Thrustmaster Elite Pedals (gameport connection)Gameport to USB converterLogitech Wingman Force 3D JoystickI'm wondering whether I can rig it all up together and get FS9 to recognize the rudder pedals rather than the joystick twist axis, or whether I'll have to revert to my old Saitek Cyborg (gameport) instead of the Wingman? I rather not lose the ForceFeedback, but I'm not happy with the rudder twist and I'd prefer to use the pedals. Oh yeah, and I'd rather not hand over $100 for new pedals either ;-)If anybody has successfully used a similar rig I'd appreciate any advice.AndrewK

Hi Andrew,I don't have any experiance with that combination, but the general answer is: Yes.Because in FS you can assign ANY external controller axis to ANY FS9 axis in ANY combination. SO in your case (replacing the stick twist by the pedals, for rudder, is no problem.Provided these controller work properly under Windows of course. Nut if they work individually, the combination will also work.Cheers, Rob

Hi RobThanks for the reply.I hooked everything up this morning and it works just great. The only interesting thing is that I had to connect my Saitek gameport joystick with my rudder pedals in order to get the calibration to work properly. Once that was done then everything worked just fine.AndrewK

Hello I have the Saitek Cyborg and the CH Pro Pedals (both USB). Problem: The CH Pedals can not be calibrated and don't react in the Sim at all unless I plug them in newly every time I start the computer although they show Status OK in the Gamecontroller setup. Seems the same problem AndrewK had. How exactly did you work it out? What means connect? Thanks Tom

Hi TomAre your joystick and pedals both originally USB, or have you connected them via a gameport-usb converter (which is what I did)?In order to calibrate the pedals on the usb converter, I had to connect the joystick to the pedals cable (there's a splitter on the pedal cable to plug the joystick gameport into). Without the joystick present the pedals wouldn't calibrate. After that, I switched to my Logitech usb joystick.Secondly, in the FS9 control configuration, you can specify which joystick axes are to be assocated with the rudder movement - make sure you've associated the pedals rather than the joystick twist.Hope that helps.AndrewK

Andrew Thanks for your quick answer. My Saitek Cyborg Joystick and CH Pedals are both originally USB. I have to USB ports at the frontside of my Dell Computer. Saitek is installed on the inner one for over a year. CH Pedals are installed on the outer for four days. They only work on the calibration tool and in the sim after plugging them out, reboot and plug them in again. But then they do work like a charm. This is really annoying. Some more suggestions. ThanksTom

Hi TomIt sounds more like a problem with the power allocation to the usb ports than anything specific with the pedals. Does your PC have any other usb ports, or can you lay your hands on a powered usb hub? That might solve your problems.I have had all kinds of wonderful fun with usb ports and various devices - usually on Dell computers. Its usually resolved by either a powered usb hub, or by disabling the enhanced usb controller.AndrewK

Hi Andrew I've received a hint that the CH Pedals must be plugged in b e f o r e any other device such as a joystick. This is what I'm trying out tonight. We'll see and I'll come back here again. Thanks Tom
