May 13, 200620 yr I recently replaced my Radeon 9100 with a GeForce 5500 -- best PCI (not PCIe) card I could find. (There is a PCI 6200, but I couldn't get it to work reliably in my -- maybe underpowered -- Dell system.)What, other than overclocking, can I do with RivaTuner that will specifically help my FS9 perfmance? Thanks for any suggestions.
May 15, 200620 yr How old is your machine?I am assuming that you are using a PCI card because your MB had integrated graphics and hence no AGP slot?I don't think rivatuner is going to help you much as that card is very old technology. Rivatuner allows you to tweak and overclock the graphics card + a whole host of other driver related settings. No PCI card is going to suffice for FS. You will need a new motherboard with a PCIe slot. This maybe a problem for a Dell as they have 'different' connections and sizing to the usual MB manufacturers. (a way to get you to buy more Dell I guess)The best advice I can give is to save for a new PC with more 'futureproof' options than Dell provide.Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
May 15, 200620 yr You nailed it, Glenn. After some more experimenting, I really didn't see any improvement over the Radeon 9100. (The 6200 was an improvement, but wasn't stable on my system.)
May 15, 200620 yr David,Thats too bad.Personally I feel it should be a crime to ship any PC without the option to add in a GPU and ditch the integrated graphics crap.I mean, how much extra can a AGP or PCIe slot truly add to Dell's costs? It stinks and should not be allowed. Or they should be made to state on the Dell website in big bold letters - "YOU CANNOT UPGRADE THIS PC AS WE ARE TOO CHEAP TO ADD AGP OR PCIe slots"LOL.......Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
