I wouldn't invest in any FX CPU, but rather go for the dual-core. Benchmarks have shown that the X2 performs better than the FX and you probably want a dual-core for FSX anyway. So, the 4800X2 is probably a better choice. Also, keep in mind that, if you want to keep your memory, you have to go with a AM2 socket, because that's the only AMD socket to support DDR2 memory. In any case, you will NOT see the super FPS improvement in FS9, but probably in FSX (who knows?).G'luck.

Andre,The FX-60 will give you a huge improvement and it is dual core. If you want to go with the new AM2 you will need to go with the FX-62 but you will pay a premium for it versus the FX-60. If you search around, it appears that AMD has a secret up their sleeve with the new AM2 series and the way they handle single threaded applications such as FS9. Also, another consideration is that the entire FX line has the HTT unlocked so you can do some mean overclocking with them.I personally am partial to AMD but I would also recommend that you at least give some consideration to the new Conroe series from Intel. They appear to be giving AMD a run for their money and then some. Even if you still want AMD, the release of the Conroe series is expected to result in a drop in the price of the FX series both socket 939 and AM2.I upgraded from a 3.0 GHz 533FSB 478 system to a socket 939 with an X2 4400+ with 2 GB of memory and can run FS9 with lots of addons, sliders at "High" or above and other stuff running in the background with no stutters. I have my FPS locked at 24 (same fps as video) and it looks and runs great.Hope this helps.Steve

The Conroe E6600 is supposed to be a direct comparison to the FX62 according to most reviews [beating it in some tests and certainly not much behind it in all tests] , and here in the UK is a shade over
