July 31, 200619 yr About to purchase TrackIR 4 but when I fly the pmdg 737 Virtual Cockpit my frames are 8-10 fps. Is it just my cpu or can't you use the overhead panel when in virtual cockpit? Whats everyones views with TrackIR and flying the 737?Im running a P4 3.0Ghz - 1gm Ram - 9800Pro 128mb. I got my sliders pretty low to and Im getting 8-10 in the VC pmdg, and about 15-20 in other planes. Would another gig of ram help a bit or should i be seeing this fps with my system.
July 31, 200619 yr I recently purchased TrackIR 4 and, before I purchased, had similar concerns to you that there wasn't enough FPS in VC mode to make it a smooth experience. I've now tried a variety of aircraft with TrackIR 4 in VC mode and whilst the FPS are definately lower than in 2D mode, it is not as jerky as I expected. Interestingly, the PMDG 737 VC gives the worst FPS of any of my addons with quality VCs, so I don't use this aircraft very much anymore. I mainly use the LDS 767 and its VC performance is very nice with TrackIR 4.Re the performance of your system, adding another gig of RAM may only improve smoothness, but it will have neglible effect on FPS. In general, if you have a gig of RAM or more, you get most FPS improvement from a faster CPU, then GPU. With FSX just around the corner, it is probably best to wait and see what hardware makes it shine before upgrading. If you really have the urge to upgrade now, the new Core 2 Duo CPU from Intel seems to be the way to go at the moment, with say 2 gig of RAM and a basic DX9 card that you can upgrade to a DX10 card when they become mainstream.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
July 31, 200619 yr What kind of frames do you get with the Level-D in VC? I notice when I run VC in the 767 when rolling or taxing its a bit jumpy , when you have trackir is this gone?
July 31, 200619 yr Right now on descent into EGCC crossing the Trent VOR at 10000ft, 80% traffic, AS6 weather and all sliders to right (except Auto gen down one notch, weather sight and cloud draw distance @ 100 / 60 nm and hardware lights at 6) with the AMD rig in my sig below, I'm getting between 15 and 29 FPS in the VC with Track IR running. As wide a range that these FPS numbers are, the overall experience is quite smooth. On the ground it can get down to about 12 FPS average before it starts annoying me, but that generally only happens at the detailed airports with complex weather and lots of AI from nearby airports. TrackIR won't improve jumpy VC operation, but in my experience it doesn't make it any worse either.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
