Joystick for FS2004 commercial jets?

Featured Replies

I thought about posting this in the Hardware forum, but I want to hear from MSFS flyers, i.e. who have joysticks not used for missiles, HUDs, etc.The problem is I'm looking for a new joystick that doesn't break the bank... i.e. under $50-80, and is good for flying FS2004 commercial jets. Fancy features are not important.I've owned a CH FlightStick for 15 years. I loved it. It's probably way too loose to be realistic, but I became accustomed to being able to make fine control inputs. I loved the analog trim. Now everything is USB, so last year I went looking. All I found at the store were $100+ BeefyMegaForceFeedbackCombatGear joysticks and $30 Logitech Attacks. I got the Attack. Unfortunately it feels stiff... tiring on the wrist, and with its limited range of motion I end up with sloppy flying. And no analog trim. Setting it up for digital trim with those click buttons is a joke... I constantly end up chasing the trim position.Thoughts on a good joystick?

timmus: Well, I'm no expert, but I am old enough to still have my original Thrustmaster FLCS-TQS-RCS combo (not connected for a few years now). Never had a CH joystick, though I currently use the CH USB Yoke,TQ, and Pedals. If I bought a stick today, I would go with CH. Their forum is very active, and full of like-minded souls who are are truly helpful to a simmer in need. It would also integrate nicely with the CH Manager. Edit - My opinion, not trying to start a debate here.As far as I know, the only players in the stick game are CH, Thrustmaster, Logitech, and Saitek.I am using my old Saitek 3D Gold joystick now, along with my TQ and pedals, as I am switching between FS9, Golden Wings, and Shockwave's "Battle of Britain, Wings of Victory". It does have the feature of being adaptable to the left or right hand. If you want a stick to fly commercial ( Airbus?) this is a good feature. Maybe with more sidestick aircraft coming on line like the Lancair Columbia and others simmers might want a configurable joystick. I know I would.Unfortunately I know of no joystick in the price range you want. There just are none out there.

TimmusDo I understand correctly that you are still using an analog joystick? Those are the best joysticks for FS2004. Do you know about the string that you have to put in your FS9.cfg file to ensure that the analog joystick is not over sensitive?
