Geforce 9600 GS or GT?

Featured Replies

I am about to buy a new PC and have the choice between a Gigabyte Geforce 9600 GS and a 9600 GT. The price difference is 50 Euros (=60 USD). (CPU will be AMD Athlon 64 3800+ AM2.) My budget is limited so I can

If you are talking FS9 performance only, then there will be neglible performance difference in that game between the two cards - save your 50 Euros.Re comparable ATI adaptor, the 9600 was out in the days when nVidia's FX series was on the way out and the 6x00 series was on the way in. See these charts for the video card pecking order in FS9 in that era: http://www.tomshardware.com/2004/10/04/vga..._iv/page11.htmlGary

Thanks for the quick reply, Gary!I did a mistake in my initial post though - it had to happen. I have a Radeon 9600 Atlantis now, and meant to talk about the GeForce 7600GS/GT. Sorry. However, that performance chart is prettey helpful.

No worries - I thought it was a bit strange coupling an old 9600 with a new X2 3800+ :-lol In any case, the answer is still the same - negligble performance difference in FS9 between vairants of a particular GPU class (in this case 7600).Gary

Oh, and a comparable ATI graphics adaptor is the X1800. See http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html...GhlbnRodXNpYXN0 (second time I've got to wheel out this link today ;-) )Gary
