Tweaking

Featured Replies

To all:Thanks for the valubale info I have gleaned from this form. I have tried different settings in both the FS9 config and also hardware tweaks i.e. AA and AF settings. Now i have scenery like I have never seen before. The remaining problem is FS9 is slow ot load and the whole screen doesn't show until the actual flight selection. It is now slow ot exit out of FS9 as well. Could this be the latency setting for the PCI bus? I believe I have my setup very close to what it should be.Any help or hints would be appreciated.I just upgraded to an AMD 64 bit 3500 CPU and an Asus A8V-Mx motherboard. My video card is a gigbyte GE Force FX5500 AGp with 256 MB. Ram is a pc3200 1 MB.Best RegardsRick

PCI latency settings would make on a very minor impact on loading / exit times. If you have lots of addon aircraft and scenery, then FS9 takes much longer than a base installation to load up. I recently had to reinstall and found a base install took 5 seconds to go to the select flight screen when cached, whereas now it takes anywhere from 30 secs to a minute with all the payware and freeware aircraft and addon scenery I have. It's just the way of the beast!Basically, if FS9 performs well once everything is loaded up, then you're on a good thing.Gary
