October 4, 200619 yr Hi there, and sorry for bothering again.Well, i have installed my new FSX dedicated 300GB HD.I have created two partition:1) for addon sceneries to come, backups, downloads and so on2) for FSX itselfBut now i have a doubt :-(maybe loading addon sceneries from first partition will impact FSX performance? Will FSX require a longer time to load? Or perhaps it'll stutter during flight if a scenery/textures loads? In other words, better to install addon sceneries on a different phisical HD or it's the same?thanks in advance for your patienceLuigi ;-)
October 4, 200619 yr >1) for addon sceneries to come, backups, downloads and so on>2) for FSX itselfBy splitting the physical drive in half, you have theoretically increased the distance needed for the drive heads to move between the two.FSX will sit nicely in its own partition, but when you start adding active addons to the other partition, the drive will have to go allll the way over to that side of the drive to load in your new scenery, then allll the way back to the game to load some textures... and on and on. It probably won't stutter, but it may take longer to load. If you use use the second partition for storage of downloads and such, it will be fine because the only time the drive would go to that part of the drive would be when you install the addon itself. If you installed the addon scenery on yet another separate physical drive, you may get some gains, but chances are they would be so small that you wouldn't notice it. Just install all your active scenery to the same partition as FSX will be in - everything will be together, and you'll be a happy camper!-Greg
