Need some help building a Network...

Featured Replies

Hi guys and gals - I have two PCs in my office which currently do not talk to each other. I would like to network them so as to be able to run some programs like Radar Contact and Active Sky off my non flight sim PC. What is the cheapest and easiest way to make this happen? In order to run some flight sim apps on another PC, I believe I need a program called WideFS which is related to FSUIPC. I already have a registered copy of FSUIPC, do I need to buy WideFS separately? Thanks for help!!

Hello my friend , if you have two coms make sure you have a network card in both machines , if you are running Xp then go to start then control panel and then network and internet settings.then go to my netwok places, then click on set up home or small office network.then follow the set up wizard, when you hit next make sure you read how your com is set up getting on the net, most cases you would hit other , this com is directly connected to the com and you do not have a network yet, would be where i would start.hit next and name your com whatever you like, hit next , and then hit next again.if you want both coms to connect to your printer then do so, otherwise hit next, then it let you know if this is what you want to do, then hit next.wait a moment then it will ask you if you want a back up , its up to you , i would skip it , just hit the just finish button and hit next.hit the finish button then restart your com.then when you go to my network places hit the view network connections and you should see both coms hooked up toghether, you now can communicate through both coms.and yes you will have to get widefs to allow you to add radar contact or any other netwoked software to work.it works extremly well...........Robert
