Memory upgrade worthwile?

Featured Replies

Like I said in another post I have a 2.8ghz P4 with 2GB of DDR RAM and I seem to have an easier time of it on the demo than some others with faster processors and 1GB. Also I just had my ATI 9800 Pro die on me so I replaced it with a BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC with 512MB of DDR2 video memory and now I can run the FSX demo with aircraft and water detail at max stutter free.My answer to your question is "YES"... but... 2 gig would be far better and replace that vid card. You will think you have a whole new system... I do! :)

Thanks for your help but unfortunately my computer's a laptop and changing the video card would be too expensive. The only option I have is to increase the memory of which the laptop's maximum capacity is 1024MB. I just wanted to know if anybody thinks doubling the memory would make a real difference.

But part of my post was on target... the part where I said "YES". I have seen many instances of people with less CPU speed getting better results than people with faster processers because they had more memory.Good luck! :)
