FSX & SLI ??

Featured Replies

Hi All,I need advice, as we all know of the performance issues with FSX I was wondering if any member has / is using two graphics cards in SLI mode??.My system is 3.8Ghz P4, 4 GIG DDR2 ram, Nvidia geforce 7900GT card all running under XP.Currently i get about 15-20 FPS with default aircraft, however, when we all start using add ons like LDS 767 etc etc this frame rate will drop!!. What would be the "gain" in FPS with 2 cards??...is anybody using this type of configuration & did / does it make a difference???.Nvidia say running x2 of rhe same GPU's increase performance, asking someone who is actually using this config for FSX I think is better.Any advice welcome.Cheers to all.Steve EGCC

One doesn't have to own an SLI setup to know that there will be no performance benefit over single card in FSX - it's a known fact that has been readily acknowledged by Microsoft in these forums. BTW, welcome to AVSIM forums!Gary

Hi Gary,Thanks for the info & your advice, well that blown my idea's out of the water ha ha.you have just saved me some more cash !!!.I guess 20 FPS is not too bad for my setup?, its a pity though as I spent quite a lot of money on a new PC just because FSX was about to be released.Sitting on the tarmac at KSFO i could get 30+ FPS with FS2004 !!! & thats whats annoying only 20FPS with FSX... its a big improvement though.. eye candy and all !!.No doubt a patch will be out to address the performance issues, I have tried a few that are around, they help but its a pity we have to back off what has been designed into the sim (to make it flyable) & this is where MS has got it wrong I feel.As someone wrote here on avsim, MS have designed it too well & about 5 years too early when 6 Gig PC's are common place!!!I still like it though, just waiting for the LDS 767 to be updated & squawkbox as I always fly with VATSIM.Thanks Again Gary.Best Regards.Steve EGCC.
