Graphics and Sound Freezes.

Although I notice this much more with FSX, I have also seen it in FS9. My system is quite new:ASUS A8N32-SLIAMD 64x2 4500+2GB Corsair TWINX 3500LLnVidia 6600GT video card.WinXP SP2 with the dual core hotfix.I have tried re-loading chipset and video drivers (and DX9C) several times but no change. Typically, I will be climbing out at 1,000 feet or so, and the video screen freezes, as does the mouse. Sound usually continues for a bit then it too freezes. After perhaps 20 seconds both video and sound unfreeze, sometimes for less than a second before the entire process is repeated, other times it may be longer. It's weird how there appears to be some altitude relationship to this, but I can't figure why that would be so. Tweaking the FSX.cfg to "Texture-Bandwidth_Multi= 400" has made things apparently much worse. My first thought is perhaps replacing the power supply, it's 250 watts (as I recall) but must be on the margin anyway. Other than that, has anyone any ideas that I might try? I do have 2 matched sticks of RAM from an earlier system (2 x 512MB)that I could try too. Any ideas and help most appreciated.Bruce.

Power Supply, alnmost for certain, The current draw on the graphics card varies with demand, as you climb the demands increase - more power required. With that rig you should be looking for 450 watts MINIMUM for the power supply. Think about 600 or more if you plan on upgrading to a DX10 card in the future. PSU's are cheap now, but like RAM they won't be for long after Vista is released.250 watts! I am surprised it works at all. :)Allcott
