November 2, 200619 yr Right now, I am using an ATI 9800 Pro. It is a great card, but when I turn up AA and AF settings, my framerates drop way down. Is there a card on the market right now that will substantially improve my performance with AA and AF in FS9, with practically no hit in framerate performance? What are your suggestions? Is there a sweetspot in performance where throwing more money at a card does very little in helping improve performance? I'll take speed over IQ.RHAMD 3800+ (2.4)1Gb DDR SDRAM80Gb HD (8mg cache)
November 4, 200619 yr Be more specific. What motherboard are you using? Are you using PCI-X or AGP connection? We already have plenty of threadss abouit replacement cards. Which of these was closest to what you are looking for?Allcott
November 4, 200619 yr Author My ASRock MB has both an AGP and a PCI express slot. Good point, I forgot to mention that. I have read the prior posts about replacement cards for the 9800 Pro. Many come to different conclusions, many are old, and there have been a lot of new cards released since many of them were originally posted.I know that many of the newer cards are better than the 9800 Pro in terms of AA and AF performance. However, at which point, I wonder, does throwing more money at a card not matter that much in further improvement. That is, if there were a graph and cost was on one axis and increased AA and AF performance was on the other, what card would stand out as the best-bang-for-the-buck card for FS9? The 9800 Pro (128Mb) card is great, but turning up the sliders decreases performance significantly. Which card out there do you recommend for an ATI 9800 Pro for increasing AA and AF performance in FS9?RH
