Anyone tried FS X on a nVidia 8800GTX already...?

Featured Replies

I'm very curious what the results are, even though it's with XP/DX9!

I will let you know here shortly. I recieved my step-up request from Evga today. Trading in my 7950Gx2. :)

I bought the gts today and am almost done installing fsx now. I didnt want to install it with my old card and then swap because i thought it might cause me to reactivate so i didnt try it. I can say that it did not improve my framerate in FS9 any but just made the whole thing MUCH smoother and it really doesnt matter how high you set the AA or AF the card just runs the same regardless. It's amazing really. I didnt want to go with a gtx due to its size and power reqts. Even the gts is much faster than a 7950gx2. The gtx is just plain overkill and required way too much computer for me to run it now, not to mention its price!I'm about to build a kentsfield setup and if i decide i want the gtx then i will step as well. I also bought the evga for this purpose.

FSX installed without a hitch and i loaded up pearson field in portland with the R22 and it ran fine for me with 4x AA and 8x AF at a steady 20fps in 3840x1024 (matrox triplehead) with sliders at medium and autogen to sparse. Since im only a 3.6GHZ P4 now im guessing that the quad core will bump that up a bit, im guessing 5-6 fps or so. Sweet little card so far.
